Autentico® Craquelure is a decorative two step system which creates fine, porcelain like
cracks which can be highlighted using Autentico® soft waxes. The term Craquelure means
the fine pattern of dense “cracking” formed on the surface of materials, either as part of the
process of ageing or of their original formation or production.
This separation into a network of fine cracks with characteristic of old porcelain and old
varnished oil paintings, is expertly recreated with ease by using Autentico® Craquelure
without the time constraints.
This is a water based non-hazardous product with low odor.
1. Apply two coats of Autentico® Vintage Furniture Paint and allow to dry thoroughly. 2.
Apply an even coat of Autentico Craquelure Step 1 using a good quality brush (preferably
synthetic); apply carefully to avoid brush marks. On application, the base coat is opaque.
As it dries, it clears but remains tacky. 3. Apply Autentico Craquelure Step 2 and allow to
dry again. During the drying process, tiny cracks will appear. 4. Once completely dry,
highlight these porcelain like cracks by using Autentico® soft waxes. Use a wax brush,
